Help protect the bird that named us, and other endangered native species.

68,000 native birds will be killed by predators tonight. You can help the Predator Free movement to protect them. If every one of us who calls ourselves Kiwi gives even just one dollar, that’s six million all up. Consider it Naming Rights paid.

FAQs

What’s Call Yourself a Kiwi all about?
It’s a national campaign encouraging everyone who calls themselves a Kiwi to help protect our namesake and all other threatened and endangered species. Every dollar makes a difference in protecting our native birds.
What organisation is behind this campaign?
The Call Yourself a Kiwi Campaign is presented by the Predator Free New Zealand Trust to support large-scale urban and rural predator elimination projects across Aotearoa.
Where does my donation go?
At least 80% will be directly distributed to landscape-scale Predator Free 2050 projects, supporting efforts to remove target predators and bring native species back. The remaining portion will help cover the production and creative costs of this campaign, so we can keep raising awareness and funding for a predator free future.
How does my business donate?
Please email Predator Free New Zealand Trust to arrange an invoice to donate, otherwise click here to donate via credit card.
Can I give more than $1?
Absolutely. Every dollar makes a difference.
What do I get for my donation?
You’re investing in the future of Aotearoa. Your donation helps protect our endangered native birds, bats, insects, and reptiles, including our national namesake. And you get the right to call yourself a Kiwi with pride! It’s a small act, but it adds up to something big if all six million of us Kiwis get involved.
How else can I help?
Please share the campaign throughout Aotearoa. Get your team behind it and share it with your wider sphere of influence and challenge them to match (or better) your support. You can also get involved with local Predator Free projects, spread the word, or talk to your workplace about supporting. Visit Predator Free New Zealand Trust for info about getting involved in your community.
What if my Kiwi company would like to get involved?
We’d love to have your support! Get in touch to receive a toolkit to help with getting the message out there.
Is your donation system secure?
Yes. Donations are processed through a trusted payment provider Stripe, using a secure payment gateway. When you click Donate, you’ll be redirected to that secure system. No payment information is collected or stored by this website.
What are Kiwi Naming Rights?
It’s a symbolic donation that says “I care about our namesake and other endangered native species.” It’s not about ownership, it’s about honouring the kiwi and its mates and helping eliminate predators so we can protect our wildlife for generations to come.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, the Predator Free New Zealand Trust is a registered charity, so donations over $5 are tax-deductible. You will receive a charitable donation receipt by email, which you can use for tax purposes.
